Meryl Bailey

Co-Founder and Manager

Meryl Bailey is an educator and a thought leader on language acquisition. Together with her husband, Meryl founded LinguaMites Multilingual Pre-school in 2013 and ZuluMites in 2015. She is also the very proud mom of 4 brilliant trilingual children (Chinese, English and isiZulu) all under the age of 8yrs.

Meryl has been involved in education in various capacities for over 15 years. Born and raised in Johannesburg, she obtained an Honours degree from the University of Witwatersrand in 2006. She taught in a range of educational settings, before relocating to China where she spent 4 years establishing the only Special needs school in Beijing. Meryl and her husband returned to South Africa in 2012 to pioneer the first trilingual preschool in the country (Chinese, English and isiZulu for 2-5yr olds).

The success of their preschool model led them to establish ZuluMites – an organization that offers schools and families resources, kids classes and training that makes isiZulu more accessible and fun.

As the proud mother of four beautiful children, she lives out her passion for education every day with a focus on multilingualism, and has become a thought leader on the topic of children’s language acquisition. All four of her children have interesting Biblical names and are trilingual.
